Topshop have absolutely excelled themselves in the world of wedges this week, and by that I mean, “Oh my holy hell, can you even IMAGINE wearing these?” They’re the ‘Ashish’ wedges in gold, they’re £150, and they’re probably the most extreme shoes on the site at the moment, but they’re not the only example of Topshop’s foray into the world of weird wedges, and you can see a few more of them in the gallery below. Most of these are available in other colours, so you may also want to take a look at the Topshop website

to get the full effect. Don’t forget to tell me what you think of them all!

Remember the Louise Goldin for Topshop shoes I showed you a few months ago? Well, they’re finally available in-store and online, and although the designs are a little less extreme than the prototypes, they’re still pretty amazing.

The shoes you see above are all available on the Topshop website, and are retailing for £150 each. I know a lot of people have been desperately waiting for these to be released, so I wouldn’t expect they’ll be in stock for long: if you want a pair, better be quick!

What do you think of them?

Shoe Deja Vu: Giuseppe Zanotti Vs Topshop

Remember the Giuseppe Zanotti tan and black patent sandals I showed you last year? I certainly do: they were one of my favourite shoes of the year, although I was forced to worship them from afar only, not happening to have a spare $650 lying around just begging to be spent on a single pair of shoes.

Topshop’s ‘Rae’ sandals, on the other hand, are only £60, which takes them out of the fantasy league. No, they’re not quite up to Zanotti’s standards, but the bar was set high there, and these have the same colours and style, without the same price tag. They’re also available in black, and you can buy them here.

‘Sherbert’ bow platform shoes from Topshop

sherbert-bow-platform-shoes

I can’t believe I didn’t spot these shoes on the Topshop website when I was showing you those gold ‘Priscilla’ sandals last week! (Or, indeed, while I was buying that dress and lingerie on Saturday. Ahem. Ooh, but I did get these . I know they’re intended for Supergirl, but, you know: close enough.) While the ‘Priscilla’ sandals still look a lot like Shoe Punks to me, these babies are MUCH more my kind of thing. You don’t really need me to explain why, do you? No? Good. Let’s just look at them and appreciate them, then. Or, if you prefer, buy them: they’re £70 and you can get them here.

Gold ‘Priscilla’ sandals by Topshop Boutique

topshop-priscilla-sandals

Did anyone else’s brains just add the words “Queen of the Desert” after the word ‘Priscilla’ in the title of this post? Mine did: and not because I’m losing my mind (or not just because I’m losing my mind, anyway), but because these have a very OTT feel about them, which their namesake ‘Priscilla’ would probably appreciate.

From the back, the high ankle on these gives them a “wings on the heels” look (so Achilles would probably like them, too!) and they also have a sculpted heel and a two-tone platform. Quite a lot going on there for one little shoe, but I’m mostly remininded of a pair of “Punk Shoes”, complete with mohawk.

What do you think? If you like them, they’re £120 from Topshop.

Louise Goldin for Topshop spike heels

louise-goldin-topshop-shoes

Eeek!

I’ve mentioned before that I’m super-clumsy, so I can only imagine all of the laddered tights and other injuries shoes like these could lead to! They’re by Louise Goldin, and although they look like they belong firmly on the catwalk (and ONLY on the catwalk), they’re part of her Spring/Summer 2010 collection for Topshop. Which means we could soon see lots and lots of women walking around wearing them.

Will you be one of them, though?

Topshop ‘Lydia’ gold platform sandals

topshops-lydia-sandals

As soon as Autumn arrives, so do shoes that look a bit like this: gold (or silver), shiny, strappy… They’re here for the Christmas party season, I guess, although to be honest, if you’re planning what to wear at Christmas parties then all I can say is you’re a more organised person than me – I haven’t even planned what to wear today yet.

Anyway, Topshop’s ‘Lydia’ is probably a good example of what this year’s generic party shoe is going to look like, because as well as being gold and shiny, it also has studs and a platform - two of this year’s biggest trends, need I remind you. These are £65 and available here.

Zip-edged frills have become a fairly common sight in the footwear world, but Topshop have at least done something just a little bit different here, by adding them to a shoe with a 3″ heel, rather than a higher one (or a flat), as is more commonly the case. As I’ve said before, this kind of heel height, although comparatively high,  can run the risk of looking slightly matronly, but I think the patent uppers and zip finish put paid to that idea, leaving you with a slightly lower heel that still looks up to date.

Topshop ‘Shark’ caged platform sandals

topshop-shark-sandals

Well, I guess this is the flip-side to all of the open toed boots we’ve been seeing everywhere this year: closed toe sandals, open on the foot but closed on the toe.

These are available in both black and navy, but neither version is quite working for me. It may just be the angle of the photo, of course, but the entire front of the shoe looks oddly elongated, giving it a bit of a comedy look. Hopefully it doesn’t look like that when it’s actually on someone’s foot! If you want to find out, these are £75 from Topshop.

Christopher Kane for Topshop: the shoes

christopher-kane-shoes-tops

The new Christopher Kane for Topshop line hit the stores (and the web) this week, and while I’m always happy to see designers producing slightly more affordable creations, I don’t think my bank manager will be losing any sleep over this one, because I’m not even slightly tempted by any of these.

Mesh inserts (not exactly practical on ankle boots), huge rubbery platforms and tassels are the order of the day here. Personally, I think this is a collection that will only appeal to the most dedicated of fashionistas or – whisper it – people who like the idea of the Christopher Kane name – but, of course, I’m not exactly part of the demographic this line is aimed at anyway, so I’ll be interested to hear what everyone else thinks.

Prices range from £125 – £175, and you can view all of the styles available at the Topshop website.
