    Topshop ‘Palais’ layered metallic wedges

In my ongoing quest to show you all the mint shoes in all the world, I somehow managed to overlook Topshop’s ‘Palais’ wedges. I’m correcting that now, because although these are a little too “Friday night at the disco” for my tastes, they are definitely show-stoppers:

    That’s a whole lotta look, isn’t it?

These obviously won’t be to everyone’s taste – I think they have a bit of a Terry de Havilland feel to them, with the layered wedge, but the slightly orthopaedic look of the criss-cross upper puts me off a little.

These are £85 at Topshop: click here to buy them.

    Topshop ‘Reem’ super skinny sandals

I’ve been on a real Topshop kick this week, thanks to all of the lovely shoes that appeared on the site over the weekend, like an Easter gift. These ones are called ‘Reem’, and they’re a little bit strappier than I’d normally like (My feet just aren’t pretty enough for me to want to expose quite so much of them!), but the fabulous colour mix makes up for that, and creates a look that will definitely stand out.

As nice as these are from the front, I actually think I like them even more when viewed from behind:

The lemon sole is a nice touch, no?

I think these would look fantastic with some of the pastel/bright denim that’s around right now – and if you’re wondering what coloured to wear them with, well, any of the four colours on the upper will do for starters!

These are £45: click here to buy them from Topshop.

    Topshop ‘Roar’ flame-side sandals

I’m really pleased to see the “flame” motif from Prada’s amazing Spring/Summer shoe collection start to trickle down to the high street, in a form which is both cheaper and more wearable. As you know, I was a huge fan of all of the 50s car-inspired collection, and while Topshop’s ‘roar’ sandals aren’t a patch on Prada, they are rather cute in their own right, and they’ll also be a whole lot easier to wear than their designer sisters!

These have a black suede upper with silver trim, a shiny silver heel, and a hot pink insole: they’re £55 and you can click here to buy them from Topshop.

Shoe Deja Vu: Buffalo Vs Carvela and Topshop

buffalo carvela shoes Shoe Deja Vu: Buffalo Vs Carvela and Topshop

Given the amount of time I’ve spent perusing the latest Buffalo collection recently, it would’ve been hard for me not to notice that the brand is very good at bringing out their own versions of shoes seen elsewhere on the high street. Now, the consensus amongst my readers tends to be that when high street brands “copy” other high street brands, it’s not so much a case of “copying”, exactly, as it is of the shoes all being made by the same manufacturer, and then branded with different names. I’ve no idea whether that’s the case here or not, but it does seem plausible, and as Buffalo and Carvela have very similar price-points, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that was the reason why Buffalo’s ‘Helene’ sandals (£102) bear such a striking similarity to Carvela’s ‘Kite’ (currently down to £69 from £130). Or, indeed, why Buffalo’s ‘Lingot’

buffalo topshop Shoe Deja Vu: Buffalo Vs Carvela and Topshop

…looks a lot like Topshop’s ‘Priti’ from last season.

Both of the Buffalo shoes are available at Sarenza, although the ‘Helene’ sandals are selling out fast… otherwise they’d probably be making their way to a Shoeperhero near you. (By which I mean “near me”.)

I’ve been failing in my mission to bring you more mid-height heels recently, so without further ado, let me present Topshop’s wonderfully named “Jazzhands” peep toes, which come in pink (above), coral:

    and lavender:

Shoe Save # 2: Every Day is St. Patrick’s Day around here…

SHOES: Topshop ‘Glam’ in green suede
OUTFIT: Topshop pencil skirt; Zara top; vintage clutch (my mum’s)

So, because I’ve decided to be a little less strict with the Shoe Challenge rules this year, I’m going to be a little bit cheaty and call my outfit post from last week Shoe Save # 1. And, you know, it’s cheating, but not really, because it does mean that my challenge officially started on March 8th, so I may have started it a little sooner than most of you, but I’ll have to end it that bit sooner, too: eek!

Now, I know what some of you are thinking: in that post I said I wouldn’t be taking part in the challenge at all, and yet here I am, on Shoe Save # 2 already. I know. I got caught up in the excitement of launching the new challenge yesterday, and decided I just had to be part of it. I AM going to be making things a little bit easier on myself than I did with the last two challenges, though: rather than only considering a pair of shoes “safe” once I’ve taken outfit photos in them (regardless of how many times I’ve actually worn them), I’m just going to snap a quick photo of each pair as I wear them (probably with my phone, I warn you in advance) and then supplement those shoe-only posts with outfit shots whenever I have time for them. So you may see the same shoes more than once, but hey, it’s all for fun, and hopefully this will make it a little more enjoyable as well as easier!

    Anyway, on to the shoes!

topshop glam courts Shoe Save # 2: Every Day is St. Patricks Day around here...

These are my green suede ‘Glam’ pumps, which I bought in the Topshop sale last Christmas. When I wrote about these shoes last year, I said that they came up really small, and that I’d probably have sized up if I’d been able to (I bought them in the online sale, and by the time they arrived, they’d completely sold out). Well, either my feet have shrunk since then, or the shoes have stretched from being worn, but I’m happy to say that they now fit perfectly: and I’m so glad, because they’re one of my current favourites, despite being one of the simpler styles I own. I have an eBay alert set up for the mustard yellow version. One day they WILL be mine…

As for the outfit, I should probably say here that not even I would normally wear head-to-toe green. Well, OK, that’s a lie: I totally would, and we all know it. I DO have an excuse this time, however: this outfit was worn for the latest Everybody, Everwear challenge, which involved wearing – yes, you guessed it – green. There was just no way I wasn’t getting involved in that one, was there?

(Giant cocktail ring is by Kenneth Jay Lane, c/o Shopbop. I’m into oversized accessories right now, can you tell?)

Of course, this EBEW challenge was really in honour of St. Patrick’s day (which I think is on Sunday?). Here in Scotland, we don’t celebrate St Paddy, but at Shoeper Towers, we DO celebrate the wearing of green. Almost every day, in fact. Speaking of which, I was thinking it might be fun to have some “themed” days as part of the shoe challenge: nothing too scary, obviously, just certain days where we’d all try to wear shoes in a similar style or colour – like a red shoe day, a flats day, er, Wedge Wednesday, that kind of thing. I know not everyone could join in with every theme, but if we have enough of them, I’m sure we’d all be able to do at least one! Let me know if you have any suggestions!

P.S. If you’ve saved any shoes today, don’t forget to post your photos in the March Shoe Saves thread!

Topshop ‘Spector’ contrast back platform shoes

topshop spector pumps Topshop Spector contrast back platform shoes

Lately I’ve been a little bit obsessed with the idea of wearing pink and gold together. This is a bit of a bummer for me, because pink isn’t really a colour that suits me (although that doesn’t always stop me trying!), but when it’s this pale, and this far away from my face, I think I could be convinced.

Oh, who am I kidding? There would be no convincing necessary here: as soon as I laid eyes on these Topshop platforms (which are really more of a peach than a pink, now I come to think of it), I knew I loved them:

topshop spector Topshop Spector contrast back platform shoes

It’s the that does it. It forms part of the perfect colour combination, and it’s a little bit glam, but not so much that you’d need a special occasion to wear them. Not that you EVER need an excuse to wear fabulous shoes, of course…

These are £62 and you can click here to buy them at Topshop.

Topshop ‘Valentina’ mint patent ballet flats with heart cutouts

topshop valentina flats Topshop Valentina mint patent ballet flats with heart cutouts

This is another pair of shoes that would’ve been perfect for Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately they didn’t appear on the Topshop website until this week, though, but hey: every day’s a good day for heart-print shoes, isn’t it? That’s what my granny always told me, anyway…

These aren’t just heart-print: they’re mint heart-print, which basically makes them super-awesome in my book. (Did I mention I’m obsessed with mint right now? Did I?) As you all know, I rarely wear flats, but these are very sweet, and I like the way the gold hearts contrast with the green upper. Although it’s hard to tell from the photo, they do look like soft-soled flats, which I wear frequently around the house, but which won’t last for long if you’re wearing them outdoors, or doing lots of walking in them. They’re the kind of shoes that are handy to have around, though, and if you don’t happen to be in the process of dressing yourself in head-to-toe mint right now, you’ll be pleased to see that they’re available in other colours, too.

These are £19 (Which is actually more than I usually pay for flats, if I’m honest. Not only am I cheap, I think I’ve been spoiled by New Look, and their £7 deals…), and you can click here to buy them at Topshop.
