Meadham Kirchhoff is the latest designer to collaborate with Topshop on a capsule collection which arrived on the website this morning. I’ll be completely honest and say that the shoes from this collection aren’t my thing AT ALL: in fact, looking at the images, I couldn’t help but be reminded of The Beatles movie Yellow Submarine: the designs have a very psychedelic/cartoon fairytale feel to them, thanks to those colourful/patterned uppers and distinctive curvy heels.
Taking personal taste out of it, however (One woman’s Kryptonite, after all, may be another’s Lex Shoether…), I can also say that these are definitely some of the most creative and unusual shoes we’ve seen on the high street for a very long time. I think only Irregular Choice comes close to this level of sheer whimsy and playfulness, and I suspect that, just like Irregular Choice, these shoes might be loved by some just as much as they’re hated by others.
Also, I probably shouldn’t, but I DO kind of like these cherry print tights, which are also part of the collection:
I just… probably wouldn’t wear them with the shoes Topshop have shown them with:
What do you think of this collection? Would you wear any of these shoes? You can view the full selection at the Topshop website, but you should be aware that these designer collaborations tend to tell out quickly, and some of the styles are already out of stock.
They sure are different, but no, I wouldn’t wear any of them.
I’d wear the first ones and the second but the rest really aren’t me. I think they’re already sold out though. That was fast…
