I love a good ribbed knit – whether it be a dress, a skirt, or a sweater. There’s just something so comforting about them, but while they’re generally as comfy and cosy as you could wish, they can also look a little more put together than most of the other clothes I’d apply the word “comfy” to.
This season, I’m crushing on two (or rather, three, but we’ll get to that in a minute) ribbed knits from Zara. The striped dress shown above is an obvious choice for me: I love anything even vaguely “nautical” in inspiration, and have yet to meet a Breton stripe I didn’t love at first sight, so if this dress was just a little bit cheaper (It’s £79.99, which is out of my budget this close to Christmas, sadly…), it would’ve been on its way to me as soon as I laid eyes on it. The Zara website describes this as a “mini” dress, but it looks like it would be just above the knee on the likes of me, which is a good length to make sure no one thinks you’re just wearing a sweater without any pants – which is always a worry of mine when I attempt to wear something like this.
Next up, is this skirt/sweater combo – which is why I should probably have called this post “three ribbed knits to get you through winter”, huh? These are, however, designed to be worn together, so although I can definitely imagine wearing the sweater with jeans, say, I’d probably want to do exactly that:
I’ve actually been waiting for these two pieces to be available to buy for weeks now: I kept seeing them on the website, being used to sell whichever other items the models happened to be wearing with them, but it wasn’t until recently that the skirt and sweater themselves became available – and even then, they were already sold out in my size! I love the luxe look of off-white knitwear, though, so I’ll be keeping a close eye on these, and hopefully they’re come back into stock soon: fingers crossed!
