Christian Louboutin red pointed toe court shoes

    Christian Louboutin Iriza, £439.55

This is Iriza, and it’s another great example of Christian Louboutins skill at re-inventing the wheel: or, in this case, the pointed-toe pump.

Ever since pointed toes started to become fashionable again, I’ve talked a lot about the “new” pointed toes, and how they differ from the “old” ones: mostly in terms of the shorter toe, and lower-cut vamp. These shoes, however, look to me like they could’ve stepped right out of an episode of Sex and the City: everything from the d’orsay cut upper to the elongated toe reminds me of the footwear of the late 90s/early 00s… just that little bit better. Or, OK, maybe a LOT better: I loved these shoes on sight, and I normally don’t like toes to be quite this long. These shoes, however, have a real elegance about them, and the low sides are classic Louboutin, which always works for me.

These also come in leopard print, and are available to pre-order at Neiman Marcus, with an expected ship date of early August. Get them here.

On another note, Monday is yet another public holiday here in the UK, and I have a ton of stuff to take care of away from the blog ahead of my upcoming vacation in a few weeks time, so I’ll be taking the day off, and will be back on Tuesday, with more shoes for you to admire (or not, as the case may be!). I hope you all have a lovely weekend, whatever you’re doing!

  2. Boutique 9 ‘Justine’ suede pointed pumps

    Boutique 9 ‘Justine’, $140

Boutique 9′s ‘Justine’ pumps are one of those styles that have been around for a long time, and which keep being re-released in a selection of different uppers. That’s a sure sign that a shoe is selling well, and I think the reasons for that are pretty obvious: regardless of the colour or texture of the uppers, these are basically the perfect, pointed pump, with no frills, no fuss, just a classic shape and a style you can wear anywhere.

Shopbop are currently stocking these in a variety of shades, but the two I’ve shown above are my personal favourites, and I have a feeling the red version might find its way onto my shoe shelves sooner or later. Well, you can never have too many pairs of red pumps, right? Right? I also love the bright blue: it’s such a bold shade, but one that I find fairly easy to wear, and it works particularly well with all of those stripe tops I keep on buying!

I’ve seen a lot of bloggers wearing these recently, mostly with casual outfits like boyfriend jeans or cropped pants. I really love the juxtaposition of dress shoe with casual bottoms, but these will also be perfect with more formal outfits, too: another reason to love them!

  3. Giuseppe Zanotti Studded Pointed-Toe Pumps

red studded court shoes with pointed toes

    Giuseppe Zanotti pumps, £543

I couldn’t let the day come to an end without showing you these wonderful red pumps, by Giuseppe Zanotti.

These have that oh-so-familiar pointed-toe shape: if you’re not used to it by now, well, you probably never will be, because this kind of look has dominated the shoe scene for a while now, and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere fast. That leaves shoe designers with the problem of trying to constantly re-invent the classic look – or at least freshen it up a little – and in Giuseppe Zanotti’s case, he’s used two different techniques to make sure his pointed red pumps stand out from the rest:

    1. The gold studs covering the entire upper

    2. The slender, cone-shaped heel, which isn’t radically different from a standard stiletto, but which does help to create a slightly different look.

I, as I’m sure I don’t need to tell you, love everything about these. I probably wouldn’t spend £543 on them, mind you, purely because there are a lot of lower-priced options out there right now, and while they may not look quite as nice as these, the fact that they don’t COST as much either makes them a whole lot more appealing. If these are the only shoes for you, however, you’ll find them at Neiman Marcus, where they’re also available in black.

Sorry for the low-quality photos, folks: the original images of these shoes were very low-res, and I couldn’t find better ones, so they probably look pretty blurry to you. I’m hoping the shoes themselves will distract you from the images, though, because just look at those heels!

That amazing, oversized bow at the top the stiletto heel isn’t just distracting me from the blurry images here, it’s also doing a lot to distract me from the front of the shoe, which is just too darn big for my taste, with an almost 2″ platform to balance out the 6.5″ heel. If they had a more streamlined shape I’d definitely be calling these Kryptonite: as it is, they just miss out on that particular title, but only just – and I bet if I were to see them actually being worn, I’d probably change my mind!

I love the lipstick red uppers on these, but the combination of bright colour and giant bow is too much for you, these also come in black.

  5. Simply Be red polka dot bow peep toes

    Simply Be peep toes, £40

Although online shopping is pretty much the norm for me, and I rarely venture into an ACTUAL shop (Well, not if I can help it, anyway…), I have to admit that I have a tendency to just visit the same old websites over and over again, so it’s always good to come across a new source of footwear: especially when the footwear in question just so happens to include three of my very favourite things: peep toes, polka dots and bows.

These little red peep toes are by Simply Be, and they’re pin-up perfect, by which I mean “right up my street, because they have a slightly retro feel to them, and would look fabulous with all of those capri pants and pencil skirts I wear all summer long”. Oh, and they’re also red. You can see why I like them, can’t you?

As well as the usual range of shoe sizes, these also come in two different widths, which could be welcome news for anyone with hard-to-fit feet.

  6. Fersengold navy peep toes with pink bow

navy patent shoes with pink heel and white platform

    Fersengold peep toes, £185

The combination of navy, white and red is one that pops up frequently at this time of year, when the stores are full of the nautical look, and people like me are dreaming of sun, sand and the seaside. And OK, I wouldn’t wear five-inch heels to the seaside (Well, probably not…), but that so-called nautical look works so well on land, too, that’s it’s something I can never resist showing you when I find it in a shoe.

These shoes, however, are a little bit different from the usual red, white and blue combinations, because these are PINK, white and blue. So that’s totally different, obviously.

Actually, while that one small change may not give the shoe a radically different look, it does freshen the look up a little, and add a fun twist to an old classic, without losing any of the details that made the style classic to begin with.

I have a rather large soft-spot for navy, but if you’d prefer a bolder colour, this red version is also a great fit for the nautical theme:

  7. I Love Shoes ‘Phorient’ satin floral print peep toes

blue floral shoes red floral print shoes

    I Love Shoes ‘Phorient‘, £47

Of all of the awesome, affordable shoe brands out there right now, I think I Love Shoes is well on its way to becoming one of my favourite. This is a brand which has a fantastic range of those “basic” styles I always seem to be searching for (And why ARE the black pumps and nude peep toes always the hardest styles to find, when, really they should be the EASIEST?), and with prices generally hovering around the £50-per-pair mark, at least you know you can stock up without having to take out a second mortgage.

These shoes, of course, don’t really fall into the category of “neutral basics”. Oh, the shape is pretty classic, sure, but rather than one of those nude or black uppers I’ve just been banging on about, these use a bright, exotic-looking floral print, on a red or blue satin upper. I found the blue version of these first, and it remains my favourite of the two shades: the colour is the same shade as the sky on a summer’s day, and it cheers me up just to look at it. The red version, meanwhile, is also very pretty, and both styles use a gold, angled insert on the platform sole, to add a bit of extra interest. (I could live without that particular detail, to be honest, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me, either.)

Perfect to wear dressed-up for a special occasion, or dressed-down with a pair of jeans, these are available in UK sizes 3.5 – 7.5 at Sarenza.

  8. Menbur ‘Hope’ bow peep toe shoes

green bow peep toe shoes red bow peep toe shoes

    Menbur ‘Hope’, £125

Quick heads up: this is another one of those “I found these shoes only after they were sold out in my size” posts, so if you happen to wear a UK size 3 or 4, and you got excited when you saw the photos, you might want to stop reading now, before you get too mad at me.

Menbur is a brand that does a particularly good job of both bows and of party shoes. These ‘Hope’ peep toes are a wonderful combination of both, and although the bow peep toe has to be one of the most over-done shoe styles ever (Not that I’m complaining, mind you…), so I’m always impressed when a brand manages to do something slightly different with them. In this case, Menbur have kept the classic shape (and a giant of a bow), and added a textured, floral print pattern on top of the satin-effect upper. It’s a very striking look, which works really well, and I also approve of the two available colour choices: red and green shoes are almost always guaranteed to get my attention!
