Shoe Re-Do | What shoes to wear with Zara’s polka dot dress?

zara dress

Zara polka dot fitted dress, £25.99

Now, I’m not going to lie to you: I ordered this dress the moment I laid eyes on it, and it’s on its way to me as I write this. And, well, so is the navy version. Whoops. In my defence, it IS only £25.99, and it’s very “me”, so assuming that it fits (which isn’t always something I can rely on when I’m ordering online from Zara…) and looks as good in real life as it does in the photos, I have a feeling I might just have found my new go-to summer dress.

But which shoes will I wear with it I wonder? Well, definitely not THESE ones, that’s for sure:

bad shoes

No wonder the model is staring down at her feet like that. She just can’t understand why she’s been made to wear these shoes with such a cute dress, and honestly, unless she has foot or back issues which make them the only thing she can walk in, neither can I.

(No offence to anyone who has/likes these shoes, by the way. I’m sure there are people out there who can rock them like no one’s business, but I’m definitely not one of them!)

As I awaited the arrival of my dress(es), then, I’ve been thinking about what I’d wear instead of these Birkenstock-style sandals. As I’m sure you can guess, I haven’ had too think too hard, or too long about this one: polka dot dresses are pretty much my “thing”, and whether they’re white or navy, I almost always tend to wear them with red. Probably something like this, actually:

red patent slingbacks

BCBGeneration ‘Carly’, $84.99

These are by BCBGeneration and they’re $84.99 at Heels.com. I always think black and white polka dots need a bright colour to lift them a little: I’m not even going to pretend I wouldn’t go for red, but obviously this dress will work just as well with any other colour.

Which one would you choose?
