These shoes go to show just how much difference a photo can make. In most of the shots I’ve seen of them, they look nice, but not particularly “shoeper”. In this one, however, they look SO nice I want to run away with them. That curvy side! That sweetheart vamp! The perfect shade of red on the upper! The silhouette is just amazing, and I also like the fact that, unlike so many other pairs of red shoes, these are leather rather than suede, so they should be a little harder wearing, and you won’t have to worry about being caught in an unexpected shower. (When you live in the UK, you learn to worry about that aaaallll the time…)

Not a fan of red? That’s OK: these come in a range of other colours, too, and they’re a style Nine West re-release frequently enough that there should be something for everyone.

What would you wear with these, though? Well, the pointed toe and stiletto heel gives them a very “dressy” feel, but I decided to go in the opposite direction, and style these in a more casual way:

jeans // shirt // watch & bracelet set // bag // lipstick // hairband

I’m obsessed with the idea of boyfriend jeans at the moment, but unfortunately I’m not so obsessed with the reality of them: I always think they look fantastic on other people, but every pair I’ve tried so far have made me look like I’m LITERALLY wearing my boyfriend’s jeans. I’ll continue my search, but in the meantime, I’ve gone for a classic pair of dark-wash capri jeans instead: they’re a nice halfway house between smart and casual, and a slick of red lipstick will always add instant polish to your look – even if it’s the only bit of makeup you’re wearing.
