Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’, £375
This is Jimmy Choo’s ‘Anouk’, and we’ve met her before: Anouk here is a Choo classic, available in tons of different colours, and regularly spotted on the feet of celebrities, as they walk the red carpet. Anouk is also regularly touted as Jimmy Choo’s alternative to Christian Louboutin’s famous ‘Pigalle’ pumps, and it’s not hard to see why: both shoes have sharp, pointed toes, high, slender heels, and that kind of classic-but-dangerous look that never gets old.
For me, the Pigalle will always have the edge over Anouk, purely because of the toe. The Jimmy Choo pump has a slightly longer toe than the Louboutin version, and although it’s not a dramatic difference, and definitely wouldn’t put me off wearing them, it creates a more dated silhouette, which I’d find more difficult to style.
As far as styling them (or “saving” them, as the case may be) goes… well, this bright red patent, combined with the super-sexy shape, creates a very “vampish” look, which could easily appear cheap, despite the fact this is a £375 pair of shoes. For that reason, I’d probably resist the temptation to wear them with anything too body-conscious or revealing and instead take the opportunity to dress up a more casual outfit. I’ve yet to find a pair of boyfriend jeans that don’t make me literally look like I’m wearing someone else’s clothes (I know the whole point of the style is to look like you just tumbled out of bed and slipped into your boyfriend jeans, but on me, the look is a bit too literal!), but I really love the look of them on other people, and think they present a great opportunity to bust out your fanciest and highest heels, which can never look over-the-top when worn with oversized denim, and something equally casual on top.
Of course, these shoes are also available in a selection of other colours, so there’s no limit to the different ways you could style them. See some of the different shades below:
They are a gorgeous pair of shoes, no doubt about that. I would get a colour other than red, however.
