Holidays and wedges go together like cherries and gingham as far as I’m concerned, so when the sun started shining this week, these Boden ‘Holiday’ wedges started to seem like a very good idea indeed.
These come in five different colours, three of which are polka-dot prints, so you can probably imagine how spoilt I was for choice here. In the end, however, I’ve (predictably) gone for the red polka version – nor just because it’s impossible to look at it without smiling, but also because as I so often tell you, red is the perfect shoe colour for summer – or for MY summer, anyway, given that I tend to dress like a sailor on vacation. Ahem. Even if you’re NOT into the nautical look, though, the available colours will allow you to wear these with any kind of look you like, and the low wedge heel should make them comfortable enough for a day of sightseeing, or whatever else you get up to. I like wedges because they generally provide much better arch support than flats or flip-flops, and they look cute into the bargain. My short legs mean I’m rarely without my heels, so I also appreciate the bit of added height, even with causal outfits.
Here’s a typical summer holiday look, featuring these shoes:

I love the touch of fun these add to a basic shorts’n-t-shirt look, which is the kind of thing I’d throw on for a casual summer day. I’ve added a chunky sweater for cool evenings, and kept the colour palette neautral, so the shoes can really shine. Because shoes like these deserve to be the centre of attention at all times, don’t you think?
