Brian Atwood pumps, £466
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that, as much as I’m loving the current trend for classic, pointed pumps on a personal level, it does make life a little more difficult when it comes to shoe blogging. Why? Well, because as good as the classic pump looks, and as easy as it is to wear, there’s only so much a designer can really do with it to make it different, while still staying true to the style. The beauty of this type of shoe, after all, is in its simplicity: as soon as you start to add too many bells and whistles, that “simple” pumps is simple no more, and the appeal of the style is lost. So, what’s a designer to do?
Well, in Brian Atwood’s case, what he’s done is to add just one little detail to these ‘Besame’ pumps to make them stand out. That detail, as you can see from the photo, is that “wave” effect on the side of the shoe, and it may be just a little thing, but I think it makes a whole lot of difference. Not only does it lend these shoes a glamorous, film-noir kind of feel, it also makes that bold red colour seem even more dramatic.
These are also available in black, for a nice twist on the classic black pump, and both colours are available at Saks.

You can shoot me if you want, but I think they are dead boring.
