Meet Kurt Geiger’s ‘Esme’. Esme is one of those shoes which lures you in with her soft beige and eggshell upper – so far, so very soothing – and hits you smack in the face with a bright yellow heel:
With studs on.
And OK, these shoes won’t actually smack you in the face: that would be really painful. The heels are a little bit unexpected, though, and although I do like them, my natural aversion to anything neon tells me that I’d have liked them even more without the yellow.
That’s just me, though, and I’m not sure the bright colour would put me off, were they to magically appear on my shoe shelves, say.
Shoes like these fascinate me: not because I want to wear then, but because I always wonder who DOES. Don’t get me wrong – I think they’re wonderful to look at, and I actually really love the colours they’ve used on the sole (although I do worry about that white platform – it’s a large area to attract dirt!), but although I seem to see styles like this popping up all the time in stores, I never see anyone actually WEARING them outside of magazine shoots and the odd red carpet moment.
Who wears shoes like this? Do you? Would you LIKE it to be you? Well, in that case you can click here to buy these from ASOS: they’re £170.
These shoes are super-simple, but I make no apologies for showing them to you anyway, because they’re also super-sexy: I mean, just look at that shape! And the heel!
They’re the kind of shoes I can imagine just throwing on with a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt, and feeling fantastic in, and…I should probably stop now, before I convince myself that I need to buy them and do that. After all, the last thing I need right now is ANOTHER pair of shoes… isn’t it?
I hope those of you who’ve had some time off have been having a wonderful holiday. I know not many of you will be online this week, so rather than post new shoes which you might miss, I’m using the time to take a look back at some of the best shoes of the year just gone instead.
Last week I rounded up the best shoes from my favourite designer brand, Christian Louboutin, so today I thought I’d show you some shoes from my favourite high street brand, Kurt Geiger.
The images in the gallery below encompass shoes from the Kurt Geiger, Miss KG and Carvela lines, and I’m actually a little embarrassed to see how many of these I seem to have acquired over the course of the year: whoops! You’ll find all of the original posts in the Kurt Geiger and Carvela archives, but if you’re looking to buy, do bear in mind that these are shoes from the entire year (and sometimes beyond), so not all will still be in stock!
I couldn’t decide which of these shoes to show you, so I decided just to show you them all. These are Kurt Geiger’s ‘Beth’ and ‘Himalaya’, they both come in shades of lavender and coral, and they both instantly made me think of summer, which is always a good thing as far as I’m concerned!
I absolutely love the colours of these, particularly the lavender version of the ‘Beth’ pumps, which have the perfect, peep-toe shape. One thing that did surprise me a little was the price: Beth is £225 and Himalaya is £295, and while Kurt Geiger has never been exactly cheap, that seems a little more expensive than usual, with the Himalaya shoes in particular having an almost designer-level price tag.
What do you think of these? Worth the price? If so, you can click here to buy them from Kurt Geiger.
I mentioned last week that I seem to be acquiring shoes faster than I can save them at the moment: this isn’t totally my fault, though – my Shoe Challenge has been made a little more difficult this month by the lovely people at Idealo.co.uk, who very kindly allowed me to try out another pair of shoes – this time the KG by Kurt Geiger ‘Kiki’ pumps.
I declared these to be Shoe Kryptonite back when they came out, and my mind hasn’t changed now that I’ve been able to try them in person. These have a lovely satin upper (which is less shiny in real life than it looks here – it was a dark, wintry day, so I had to use the flash!), a pink, cone-shaped heel, and, of course, that fabulous polka dot upper, topped with little pink bows:
The heel on these is 5.11″, so they’re pretty high, but the perilous heels are balanced out by the very girlie, slightly kitsch uppers, I think.
I ordered these in my usual size, and they fit perfectly. The platform also means they’re more comfortable to wear than that heel would suggest!
These are currently down to £59 in the Kurt Geiger sale, but are sold out online in everything except a size 36, so you may need to take a look in-store, or hit up eBay, if you really want a pair!
Well, good:something tells me these shoes aren’t the type to take kindly to being ignored!
They’re KG by Kurt Geiger’s ‘Isobel’ wedges, and now that I’ve shown you the back, I guess I should probably show you the front, too:
They’re a little less extravagant from this side, but that heel will still attract plenty of glances I’m sure.
These are £99 from Kurt Geiger, whose email newsletter I really need to unsubscribe from: it’s just not fair of them to show me so many beautiful pairs of shoes every week!
As you may already know, the Kurt Geiger sale started this weekend, which, for me, meant a lot of time trying to search through the constantly-crashing website (I’m guessing I wasn’t the only one excited by the words “Kurt Geiger” and “sale”, then!) to see if the shoes I want most had gone on sale. And, of course, they hadn’t. Boo!
I did, however, happen upon these purple suede sandals, and I’m just going to tell you straight up: these are almost completely sold out, so unless you happen to wear a UK size 4, don’t go getting too excited, OK? And now, having said that, I’m going to add insult to injury by showing you some more photos of them. Because these really are the kind of shoes you have to see from multiple different angles. Like this one, for instance:
And also this one:
Now, these won’t be to everyone’s taste. The oversized bow will be a little too oversized for some of you and, truth be told, I’d probably like it better myself if it was suede, rather than patent. Still, if you’re looking for a shoe that will really stand out – and you wear a size 4 – these could be for you. If so, they’re £119, and you can click here to buy them.
