It’s been a while since I had a heart-shaped shoe to show you, so here’s one for you today, courtesy of Jeffrey Campbell, whose Love to Strut heels are $114.99 at Modcloth.
These shoes actually feature two of my favourite things in one, because the “studs” are actually tiny little lovehearts, which means that what originally seems to be a slightly “tough” looking court shoe becomes a whole lot softer when you take a closer look. A nice way to work the trend for studs, and a less kitsch way to wear your heart(s) on your shoes, these have a classic shape to offset the quirky upper. What do you think?
It’s been a while since I showed you a pair of heart-front shoes, so let’s fix that right this very second, with these black, white and red peep toes by Moschino, which are $769 at Zappos Couture.
I particularly like the shape of the heart on these, and the way it loops down into the peep toe, making it less kitsch than some of the heart embellishments I’ve featured. I’m also keen on the colour mix, and while my preference is always going to be for a slightly higher heel (these are 3″), the pyramid shape of this one is a nice finishing touch.
These shoes were pointed out to me by reader Ellen, who suggested they might be a slightly more subtle option for those of us who like to wear our hearts on our shoes! I completely agree, and while I still think Alexander McQueen did heart-shaped peep toes best, these ones are at least significantly less pricey at just $39.99.
If I could wish for one thing with these, it would be a selection of brighter colours, but if you’re looking for a low-heeled grey or black wedge, you can find these here.
I’m not quite sure why Moschino decided to name these shoes ‘Sandwich’, but leaving the name aside for the moment, let’s take a look at the latest in a long line of heart-decorated shoes.
On the plus side, I absolutely love the colour of these: there are those who would argue that red and green should never be seen, but I think the little red accents on this greeny-blue upper work really well. As for the rest, well, there’s something a little childlike about them, and the combination of bright colours and chunky platform may be too much for some tastes.
What do you think of these? We know they’re definitely not “cheap” at $395, but do you find them “chic”? If so, you can pick up a pair at Piperlime.
What’s this? ANOTHER pair of shoes with hearts on them? Already?! I know, I know, it’s a bit much. But there are a whole lot of hearts out there in Planet Shoe at the moment, and these ones by Paul Smith are just the latest to bring themselves to my attention. These are actually much less cutesy/kitsch as most heart-embellished designs: in fact, unless you’re looking closely, you may well mistake them for animal print (Hey, wouldn’t it be great if there WERE animals with a print like this?) or some other kind of design.
I’m actually not sure how I feel about these ones, so I’ll be interested to hear what everyone else thinks of them. They’re £170 from Coggles.
Yes, readers, it’s your regularly scheduled heart-shaped-shoe of the week! (OK, so they’re not actually heart-shaped. That would be weird. But… oh, you know what I mean.)
I can’t quite give you ten things I love about these shoes, but I can give you four:
1. The name. Oh, come on, you’ve got to love a company who names their shoe ’10 Things I Love About Shoe’!
2. The heart. Well, d’uh!
3. The comic-book look of said heart. Well, I’m a cartoon superhero, of course I’m going to like that!
Oh, come on, you didn’t think I’d let a whole week go by without showing you at least one pair of heart-embellished shoes, did you?
Actually, that’s what I was planning to do, but then these little patent flats popped up at Accessorize, and I just couldn’t resit showing you them. They’re only £22, and just the thing for summer days, when you can slip them on with shorts, dresses, jeans: you name it. Super-cute, and super-affordable, you can grab yourself a pair here here.
I expect there are some people out there who will absolutely love these shoes. I’m not one of them, though: while, generally speaking, hearts-on-shoes tend to set MY heart all a-flutter, these ones are garish, loud, and just a little bit tacky. Or maybe a LOT tacky, depending on your opinion.
The fact that they’ve been heavily discounted over at The Outnet makes me suspect I’m not the only one to feel this way about them – they were £705 and are now £211. That’s still pretty expensive, though, especially for a shoe that’s probably not going to be the most versatile style out there.
