This week I’ve been seeing red carpet images from the Cannes Film Festival all over the Internet, so I guess it makes sense that I’d select a red-carpet shoe for this week’s Friday Fix!

Gold strappy sandals are a red carpet staple, and for very good reason: they’re the kind of shoes that work effortlessly with everything, while still looking glamorous in their own right. It’s no coincidence, meanwhile, that so many celebrity evening shoes are by Christian Louboutin: you only have to look at these gold ‘Martha’ sandals so see how good the designer is at creating this kind of styke,

These have a 4″ stiletto heel (Evening shoes are definitely getting lower: just a couple of years ago, 5″ or more would be standard, with an equally high platform to go with them, but these days the 4″ heel has made a definite “comeback”!), and an unusual lattice t-bar. The high ankle (which has a zip at the back to let you get them on an off easily), is another interesting touch, and I think it gives them a bit of a “superhero” feel: I WOULD say that, though, wouldn’t I?

These are very low in stock at Neiman Marcus, although at £939, that might be something of a moot point anyway. If you do want to buy a pair, however, and your size isn’t in stock, you may be able to track them down elsewhere: fingers crossed!
