ASOS Sparkle low embellished heels, £40
Feet need a break after the party season? Not willing to sacrifice style for comfort? Enter ASOS’s ‘Sparkle’ – a low-heeled pump with a sky blue satin upper (they also come in gold, but that blue shade is such a refreshing change that it’s by far my favourite!) and a heavily embellished toe. I should say here that the low, chunky heel isn’t necessarily a guarantee of comfort – the only way you can know for sure if a shoe will work for you is to try it on – but it’s a marginally safer bet than a spindly stiletto, so these could be worth a gamble.
Here are some other pieces I’m currently coveting from ASOS:
ASOS velvet plunge midi dress, £80
If you still have some socialising to do in January (or beyond), this velvet plunge pencil dress is a real dream, in inky velvet, with a daring plunge neckline. I thought I was well and truly partied out after the festivities of December, but this one has me wishing I had something else lined up, just so I’d have an excuse to wear it.
Pull & Bear knit high neck dress, £15.99
No excuses necessary for this one, meanwhile: this is the kind of dress you could wear anywhere, and it’ll look just as good with a pair of heels and a clutch as with boots and tights. Oh, and it’s only £15.99, so if your bank account is feeling the pinch after Christmas, at least this purchase won’t hurt too much.
True Decadence yellow prom dress, £65
Finally, yellow is a colour a lot of people avoid, but while it’s true that it doesn’t always work for everyone, if you can pull this colour off, it will make a really striking and unusual addition to your wardrobe, and be something not many other people will dare to wear.
