Fashion retailers, however, DO want you think about winter coats in August, because that’s when the new season stock starts to arrive, and as depressing as it is to buy something you’re not actually going to be able to wear for another couple of months (or here’s hoping!), it can make sense to start shopping for winter coats now, before they’re all sold out.
