I’ve promised myself I won’t buy any more Vivienne Westwood for Melissa heels* (the flats, on the other hand, are another matter altogether…), but that doesn’t mean I don’t still excitedly await the arrival of each new collection, and then spend more time than is really necessary picking out my favourite. Purely for “research” purposes, you understand.
The Autumn/Winter 2014 collection is now available to pre-order at Garment Quarter, and is heavily focused on tartan. Ordinarily, this wouldn’t appeal to me, as I’ve never been a great fan of the print, but luckily this isn’t the slightly garish, traditional tartans I’m used to seeing in the tourist shops around Edinburgh, but a much more muted, pastel-based version. It’s probably never going to be my favourite print on a shoe, but I have to admit that these are really pretty, and I particularly like the lilacs and pinks in the first shoe shown above – so pretty!
This collection includes both the heart-front shoes and the newer bow-fronted styles. I love both, but my preference is with the bow version, which is a little less cartoonish, and (in my opinion) slightly more flattering on the foot. With that said, I own and wear shoes in both of these styles, so there’s not much to choose between them!
Prices are £150 for the heels and from £100 for the flats: and don’t worry – although these are a pre-order item, they’re scheduled to ship at the end of this month, so you won’t have to wait too long to get them!

* I’ve said this before. I’ve yet to manage to keep that promise…
I love that heart pair 🙂 and it’s nice to see a soft tartan print for a change.
Not a fan of tartan, even glamorous modern tartan like this. Just screams “old lady” to me, although I’d be VERY surprised to ever see an old lady in Lady Dragons. 🙂
