New Look pink floral stripe pointed court shoes, £19.99
A sweet shoe for just £20? (Well, £19.99, if you want to be pedantic about it…) Well, who am I to resist such a thing?
I’ve found that the older I get, the less impressed I am with New Look’s shoes: don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to turn my nose up at a bargain, but there was a time a few years back when almost all of my shoes seemed to come from there, but thinking about it now, I’m not sure I can remember the last pair I bought from the store.
(No, wait, I stand corrected: I bought a pair of gold ‘slipper’ flats from there a few months ago, and wore them until they quite literally fell apart. I tossed them just a couple of weeks ago. Note to self: buy more flats to use as slippers…)
I’d happily try a pair of these, however: not are they in my favourite shoe shape (I know plenty of people are bored to death with pointed courts by now, but there’s not much else than can hold a candle to them right now, as far as I’m concerned. I’ll take “dull” over “clumpy” any day…), they also combine two of my favourite prints – stripes and florals – far more effectively than I’d have suspected would be the case. I’m not much of a fan of pattern-mixing, and tend to think there’s a good reason why this used to be considered a fashion faux-pas, but on these shoes, it just works – and pretty well, too.

This dress is by LK Bennett and I LOVE it. And I also love the mint green version, which is also available – possibly a little bit too much, actually, considering the price: ouch!
