Miu Miu bow-embellished leather and patent-leather mules, £515
I have a feeling these shoes probably won’t be the most popular pair I’ve ever featured – mules rarely are. As for me, well, I was in two minds about them until I saw what they looked like on when worn, at which point I decided that while I probably wouldn’t rush out and buy them myself (Scratch that: I definitely wouldn’t buy them at that price), I do find them interesting and unusual enough to have earned their place as our shoe of the day.
Of course, in my case, most of my admiration for these shoes is centred around THAT BOW. I’d probably love that bow no matter what style of shoe it was attached to, so the fact that there’s a high-heeled mule underneath it is almost incidental. I love how over-sized and flamboyant it is, and there’s something almost cheeky about it too – I honestly don’t know why I think that, but it’s the word that instantly springs to mind when I look at these, so I’m just going to go with it.
I also really like the burgundy colour of these, which is unusual for me, because it’s normally my least-favourite shade of red. I think it works well on this shoe, though – a brighter red would possibly cheapen the look a little, but this one has a bit of sophistication to it.
dress / coat / bag / suglasses
This dress also has a fair bit of sophistication to it: it’s by Jason Wu, and is therefore out of my price range, but I love pencil dresses, and I particularly like the neck detail on this one.
