Roland Mouret hot pink pumps, £495
Roland Mouret is best known for his dresses (And with good reason, too: the man makes some truly AWESOME dresses, after all…), but the designer also recently dipped his well-shod toe into the world of shoe design, and these two-part pumps are one of the results.
I like these shoes better from the side than I do from the front. The side view showcases the angular shape which is also characteristic of Mouret’s dress design, and has a very cool, contemporary feel to it – these shoes are all sharp angles and bold colour, and that definitely makes them stand out from the crowd. Do they stand out for good reasons or for bad ones, though? Well, as I said, I’m not quite so keen on the front view – the vamp is slightly too high, and the toe a little too long for my tastes – but I think they have the potential to look amazing on the right person. That person isn’t going to me, but I had a go at styling them anyway, and here’s what I came up with:
How to wear a midi skirt:
skirt // top // bag // hair-band // nail polish
Both skirt and top are new in at River Island this week, and both instantly appealed to me: the top for its perfect, pin-up style off-the-shoulder look, and the skirt because, well it’s a full midi skirt, and I don’t think I’ve ever met one of those I DIDN’T like. Something I also like is the combination of black and white with a bright accent colour, and hot pink seemed like the perfect choice here. The white leather section of these shoes ties in with the white of the skirt, while the gold heel is picked up on the bag: add a quick coat of hot pink nail polish, and you’re all set!
Not loving the shoes, but loving the outfit you put around them!
