Christian Louboutin Au Hameau Clear Crystal-Swirl, £1,043
Well, it’s finally happened: I’ve now completely lost my bias against shoes with PVC uppers… even although it still makes me cringe a little to write those words. There’s just something about “PVC” that says “cheap”, which is ironic, really, considering that these PVC shoes are more expensive than the softest nappa leather creations tend to be.
They’re also completely and utterly fabulous. It’s shoes like these, you see – and specifically Christian Louboutin shoes like these – which have helped rid me of any preconceived ideas I had about clear shoes, because these are true “Cinderella” shoes, if ever I saw them. In fact, if these WERE Cinderella’s shoes, I’m willing to bet she would never have run off and left one of them behind: and not just because they’d be so expensive to replace, either…
Slip these beauties on, and the clear sections will disappear, leaving you with a delicate sprinkling of crystals in shades of pink, purple and white. These shoes will have a barely-there effect on the foot (again, it’s ironic that this effect should cost so very much, but there you have it…)
These would make beautiful bridal shoes, but if you don’t have that particular excuse handy, then I’m sure you can come up with SOME reason to wear them, if you just think hard enough. It can’t be THAT hard to find an excuse to buy a pair of £1,000 PVS shoes after all, can it? Can it?
(I would wear them with something like this beautiful vintage prom dress. Please don’t ask me where on earth I think I’d be going dressed like this: just allow me to have my little dream…)
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Oh my. The beauty definitely outweighs the “plastic” for me.
