I love makeup and skincare products, but I ALSO love the minimal look when it comes to home furnishings – so, everything in its place, zero clutter, and an organised environment which I can relax in.
Luckily for me, I ALSO love Ikea, which means I get to indulge my love of beauty products without compromising my need to keep everything organised at all times. Here are three of my Ikea storage ‘must haves’…
IKEA MALM DRESSING TABLE
I’ve had my Ikea ‘Malm’ dressing table for over a year now, and still absolutely love it. When I was shopping for a dressing table, I was actually prepared to pay more for the ideal solution, but I just couldn’t go past this – the simple, streamlined shape is perfect for my minimal style, and the shallow drawer (which ShoeperMan modified slightly, to allow it to open to its full extent) comfortably holds my entire makeup collection. I particularly like the fact that the depth of this drawer means that all of my makeup is on show, and I don’t need to rummage for anything – it makes getting ready in the mornings a whole lot easier!
Although this has worked out really well for me, I’m guessing it probably wouldn’t be as useful for those of you with very large makeup collections, however, in which case the ‘Alex’ drawers, which I also had my eye on, would be a great companion to it.
GODMORGON BOX WITH COMPARTMENTS
While my dressing table holds most of my makeup, I also have a ‘Godmorgon’ box for everything else. This fits comfortably inside my bathroom cabinet, and these days it mostly holds skincare and other toiletries (the photo is an old one, and the brushes and polishes now live elsewhere!). The compartment with the brushes in it actually lifts up, revealing more storage below, so it holds more than you might think at first glance!
IKEA SMALL STORAGE BOXES
Also from the ‘Godmorgon’ range are these small storage boxes, which I use for various different things: as you can see, these ones hold a random assortment of hair grips, lip balms and hand creams, as well as some earplugs and charging cables! These fit neatly into my bedside table (Which is also from Ikea, naturally), but you could use them anywhere, and for just about anything – definitely one of those ‘you can’t have too many items’. And on that note, I think it’s probably time for me to order some more…
