Michael Antonio ‘Love Me’ yellow satin pumps

yellow high heel shoes

Michael Antonio ‘Love Me‘, $39.95

These shoes are asking us to love them, and I don’t know about you, but I think I might just oblige. Well, it would be rude not to, wouldn’t it?

My love of these has almost nothing to do with the shoe itself, however: it’s all about the colour. Underneath that bright yellow satin, there lies a nice, but unremarkable, high heeled pump. It’s the kind of shoe that can look totally different depending on the colour and pattern used on it, and, in this case, the colour is this wonderful, canary yellow, which has the power to transform a plain ol’ pump into something that’s definitely worth taking a second look at.

Up until a couple of years ago, yellow was a colour that was completely missing from my shoe collection. I now have quite a few pairs in this shade, however, and I wear them much more often than I’d ever have expected: in fact, after red and nude, I’d say bright yellow is one of my most-worn shoe colours. It’s surprisingly versatile, is bold enough to turn heads, but it works with quite a few other colours, too. (My favourite combinations involve yellow and either cobalt or pale blue, but I’ve also worn it with cream and black on quite a few occasions.)

If you’re less keen on the shade, however, these pumps come in six other colours, so I’m sure you’ll find something to suit you!

  • I totally agree! It’s amazing how many colours work well with yellow. Love these as well, I used to own a pair of canary yellow satin pumps and wore them to death (literally, they eventually fell apart).
