4 perfect stripe tops for casual spring style

I’M A LITTLE BIT ADDICTED TO STRIPES.

OK, make that MORE than a little bit addicted. Stripe tops, stripe skirts, stripe dresses, stripe shoes… I’ll happily wear them all, and I firmly believe there’s no such thing as too many stripes. How COULD there be?

Of all the things that could possibly have stripes attached to them, though, stripe tops are my particular poison. They’re virtually irresistible to me, and I’m constantly on the search for the perfect stripe top – which is trickier than it sounds, because although there are plenty of stripe tops around, different occasions call for different tops – and different stripes. Here, then, are four perfect stripe tops which I’ve tracked down for different occasions…

4 PERFECT STRIPE TOPS

Clockwise from top…

01. TOPSHOP STRIPE ZIP BACK JUMPER

Topshop’s classic Breton has a zip back, and comes in black and red. I’ve had my eye on this one for a while now, and particularly like the close-fitting shape – so many of the Breton stripe tops I find tend to be in a very baggy kind of cut, which doesn’t work for my figure – this one looks much better!

02. LOUCHE MARINA RED STRIPE BOATNECK TOP

This one comes in navy or red, and the main selling point for me is the boatneck cut – it gives the top such a great, retro-inspired shape, and I always find the boatneck style just a little more elegant than the usual round neck we see most often.

03. DOROTHY PERKINS BLACK STRIPE BARDOT TOP

This top has a bardot shape, which will ALSO create a retro-inspired look. These are also pretty fashionable right now, though, so if you’d rather look trendy than retro, it’ll still work: I’m a big fan of the crossover top, which makes it slightly dressier than might otherwise have been the case.

04. OASIS STRIPE BOATNECK TOP

Finally, Oasis’s boatneck top is just everything that’s good about the world, basically – or about stripe tops, at least. At £22, this could be a hard one for me to resist, so I’m going to walk away now, before I do something I … probably won’t regret, as such, but will feel just a tiny bit guilty about.
