What: Zara tan leather over-the-knee boots
When: Saturday, February 26, 2011
Where: Dinner with my parents
With: ASOS skirt, Zara sweater, vintage faux fur jacket (belonged to my grandmother), Gucci sunglasses
First up: no, I didn’t cut my hair, it just got caught in the collar of my sweater when I was putting it on, and I quite liked the “faux bob” effect, so I decided just to leave it like that. (Well, for as long as I had my jacket on, anyway. I’d have felt a bit stupid sitting at dinner with my hair stuffed into my sweater…) I call it my “Fob”. Faux bob = Fob? No?
Anyway! The weather has been ridiculously cold lately, so this outfit was my attempt at cold-weather glam. I seem to be stuck in a bit of a pencil skirt rut at the moment – I think there was only one day last week when I didn’t wear either a pencil skirt or pencil dress – mostly because they’re so easy to wear, and I love the fact that you can just throw them on with a plain sweater and pair of boots, as I did here, and still look like you made a bit of an effort.
Although I’d been wearing pencil skirts all week, it hadn’t occurred to me to wear one with these boots. I thought the colour went well with the skirt and sweater, though, so I decided to give it a try, and quite liked the vaguely 70s feel I ended up with.
The faux-fur jacket, meanwhile, used to belong to my grandmother, and is one of those items that instantly adds a touch of drama to just about anything…
Oh, and it’s really warm too, which is the most important thing at this time of year.
I always seem to go for the same basic colour palette with these items – must try something different next time! Here’s how I’ve worn them before:

Love the retro/vintage glam! And SUNSHINE! We could do with seeing a bit more of that around here…
Oooh, that’s a very glamorous outfit. I think that’s a definite thumbs up for your attempt at cold weather glam! Those boots look a lovely colour, a very rich tan.
Ou I like 🙂 I love finding vintage things from my grandma, aunt and mom 😀
You look so gorgeous… And I’m jealous about the weather! We have a bit of sunlight too, but there is still heaps and heaps of snow. I miss spring…
I love the 70’s vibe! I have been trying to figure out what I am going to put together to accomplish that look from my own closet. You did it well!
You look lovely as usual; the only thing I don’t understand is the appeal of Zara shoes. I mean, I do own a couple of pairs, but I stopped buying them as their quality went from acceptable to bad. The soles are the thing that distinguishes good shoes from bad ones, and Zara uses, well, plastic – or similar human made materials.
I just can’t, but you pull them off brilliantly! 🙂
I love the pictures! The “bob” is great, though I like your hair long. And teh boots are fantastic! Well done!
LOVE the jacket!! I have a similar one, and the only bad thing about it are the 3/4 sleeves (what’s up with that??)
Gorgeous! Very old-timey glam.
I love the bob, it suits you, it looks like you could tie a scarf around your neck and you could star in those old timy films with the long cigerette holders 😀
Very stylish as always!
I love your outfit! These colours look great on you.
I love the color palette too. So simple, but such a classy effect. 🙂
Beautiful photos! I love your outfit 🙂
Super lovely!! You are so amazing in this outifit *O*
(I’ve got the same pair of boots!)
