Shoeper Shoe Challenge#4: Winter Warmer

What: Zara tan leather over-the-knee boots
When: Saturday, February 26, 2011
Where: Dinner with my parents
With: ASOS skirt, Zara sweater, vintage faux fur jacket (belonged to my grandmother), Gucci sunglasses

First up: no, I didn’t cut my hair, it just got caught in the collar of my sweater when I was putting it on, and I quite liked the “faux bob” effect, so I decided just to leave it like that. (Well, for as long as I had my jacket on, anyway. I’d have felt a bit stupid sitting at dinner with my hair stuffed into my sweater…) I call it my “Fob”. Faux bob = Fob? No?

Anyway! The weather has been ridiculously cold lately, so this outfit was my attempt at cold-weather glam. I seem to be stuck in a bit of a pencil skirt rut at the moment – I think there was only one day last week when I didn’t wear either a pencil skirt or pencil dress – mostly because they’re so easy to wear, and I love the fact that you can just throw them on with a plain sweater and pair of boots, as I did here, and still look like you made a bit of an effort.

Although I’d been wearing pencil skirts all week, it hadn’t occurred to me to wear one with these boots. I thought the colour went well with the skirt and sweater, though, so I decided to give it a try, and quite liked the vaguely 70s feel I ended up with.

The faux-fur jacket, meanwhile, used to belong to my grandmother, and is one of those items that instantly adds a touch of drama to just about anything…

Oh, and it’s really warm too, which is the most important thing at this time of year.

I always seem to go for the same basic colour palette with these items – must try something different next time! Here’s how I’ve worn them before:
