I’ve been admiring Giuseppe Zanotti’s high platform wedges from afar for many months now, but it seems that finally the UK high street has decided I could at last have the opportunity to own something similar. River Island’s black glitter wedges may not be in quite the same league as the Zanottis, but that super-high platform is very similar, and these have glitter all over the platform too, if that’s the kind of thing that floats your boat. Oh, and they’re much cheaper, too, at just £70.
While we’re on the subject of GZ lookie-likies, Monica wrote to me last week to draw my attention to Carvela’s ‘Grass’ wedges:
These also have the vertiginous platform, but come with a red suede upper, and a £140 price tag.
What does everyone think of these? As much as I love the extreme shape, I think I’d probably have a hard time working them into my wardrobe (and my Shoe Challenge!). What would you wear with them?
the red ones!!! please, now!
omg I never think what I will wear it with in the first place.. I should learn to do it, of course. I mostly just get hypnotized, scream SHOES! and grab them..
I thought some high wedges I had from ASOS were huge…til I saw those! Mind you, I do like a nice high wedge but altho the red is gorgeous, they might be too high!!
I really like those red ones, and I’d wear them with cropped jeans or a pencil skirt in fact I now have to go and try them!
For the US girls Steve Madden has a pair just like this that comes in taupe and black………I have worn them to work with a solid pencil skirt and a printed top….they make your legs look super long and shapely!!! Skinny jeans, shorts even if you have the legs for it….
Love the glitter ones!
I guess I’d wear the red ones with some jeans… but they’re too high for me.
