It’s probably a little too early in the season to be thinking about swimwear (She says, looking out of the window at another dull, misty day…), but Topshop’s current swimwear collection has me dreaming of sunny days, sandy beaches and, well, polka dots. So, nothing new there, then!
If you’re into retro-inspired swimwear, Topshop is a surprisingly good source of the stuff. I’m a big fan of Esther Willliams’ one-pieces, but they’re pretty expensive, so Topshop’s prices are a welcome alternative. They generally release a selection of retro one-pieces and high-waisted bikinis every season, along with their more contemporary swimwear, and I love them. These styles are just as cute as a modern bikini, but I find them much more forgiving to the figure, and because you don’t tend to see a lot of them, they really stand out, too. Just add a pair of cat-eye sunglasses and a big sunhat, and you have an glamorous poolside look, without any effort at all.
Here are my favourite items from Topshop’s current collection:
apple-green gingham bikini, £32
coral and cream spot bikini, £34
Contrast spot scallop swimsuit, £36
I love both the polka dot swimsuits and have never given Topshop a thought before when it comes to swimwear (shoes and dresses, well, that’s another matter).
I’d like the coral and cream in a one piece! How cute.
