Miu Miu’s gingham taffeta slingbacks have been on my shoeper radar for a while now, and I’m only just getting round to writing about them, because it’s taken me this long to decide how I felt about them. Despite containing quite a few elements that I love, you see – green, red, gingham, bows – and despite me talking so much recently about my new-found appreciation for pointed toes, the shape of these particular toes did give me pause.
It was the advert above, from Neiman Marcus, that finally swung it for me: these shoes just look so much fun, so summery and, yes so much like they’ve been created out of a picnic blanket, that I just can’t hep but like them. I have a thing for picnic blankets, what can I say?
All three colours shown above can be found at Neiman Marcus. The blue version, meanwhile, is available at Net-a-Porter, who say they have more stock coming soon.
I really love them. I would like the bow to be smaller by a half – something more dainty would make it look more proportional, less like two loose ends of a cloth tied into a makeshift halter-top. But I love the shape, the pattern and the vibrancy of the colors.
These have all the elements I tend to like: vibrant color, check; some form of detailing, check; high heel, check. I just can’t get to loving these though. I think it’s the pointy toe and thin heel combined with such a large pattern. My mind keeps wanting the pattern to be smaller.
Amazing! I want them!!!!
Oh they seem just right to me 🙂 And something about them just screams New Look. Maybe it’s the pointy toe and the thin heel combined with such a large bow, but they really do carry a 50’s feel to them.
It was the view of the green ones that sold them for me. Perfect for summer. Shame I’m heading for winter.
I bought these in blue because I loved them so much. They run a half size too big and I had to return them to Netaporter. Still love them but not as much after trying them on. A bit too much toe cleavage, although some people might like that. Great concept, nice and bright, fun for summer.
