Michael Kors platform sandals, $175
Claret is such an autumnal colour, don’t you think? It’s a shade I wouldn’t ever think of wearing during summer, considering too dull and dreary for those sunshine-seasons (Well, SOMETIMES we get some sunshine, anyway…). When autumn rolls around, however, the colour seems wonderfully appropriate, and anything but “dull”. Instead, I think of it is a rich, opulent shade, which works so well with the browns, blacks and other shades of the season: even more so when combined with the gold hardware on these Michael Kors sandals.
These are from the ‘Michael’ diffusion line, which makes them a little less expensive than regular Michael Kors footwear. They’re not a style I’d typically go for personally, but something about the double-buckle and studded platform sole is really appealing to me: I even think they could work well with opaque tights, if you don’t want to risk bare legs in the chill. (If you’re a little dubious about that one, the black version which is also available could be easier to style with tights in the same colour…)
♥ Jil Sander dress ♥ Jaeger coat ♥ Dolce & Gabbana black leather bag ♥ Clinique Chubby Stick tinted lip balm ♥ Marni sunglasses ♥ Marc Jacobs nail polish
These shoes have a 5″ heel, with a 1″ platform to balance it out. Shoes this high aren’t quite as popular as they were a few years ago, but in this case, the studded platform is the making of the shoe, which I think would be much less interesting without it. The black version, meanwhile, is also nice, and although it’s less unusual than this deep red colour, it would look equally good with the outfit above, or as a contrast with some brighter colours or prints.
I’d be inclined to buy them in red, for sure!
