Gucci ‘Yulia’, $995
I’m writing this post a couple of weeks in advance of its publication date, and I’m crossing my fingers and hoping these shoes will still be available by the time you come to read it. I somehow suspect they may not be, though, because despite being a not-exactly-budget-friendly $995, they’re not the kind of shoes that tend to stick around for long. In other words: they’re gorgeous. Totally, drop-dead, gimme-them-now gorgeous.
These are Gucci’s ‘Yulia’ sandals, and they have pale pink uppers dotted with Swarovski crystals, and finished with a 5″ stiletto heel and 0.5″ platform. The crystal embellishments are most obvious talking-point here, but actually, it’s the lovely shape that really made them stand out to me. The low-cut vamp and slight curve to the ankle strap and heel make these really special, and although they don’t actually need all of those crystals to make them shine, well, it doesn’t hurt either, does it?
It may not hurt the eyes, but as you know, Swarovski crystals always do some serious damage to the price tag of whatever they’re attached to. Gucci sandals are never going to be bargain-basement finds, of course, but at $995 these are very much an investment buy or celebratory splurge for most of us.
