Gucci horsebit-detailed patent-leather knee boots, £1030
I’ve decided the best way to deal with this complete non-summer we’ve been having (and which I’m not sure I’ve mentioned enough yet, to be honest. I keep on telling myself I won’t mention it again, but when you live in the UK, dressing for the weather can be such a pain that no wonder we Brits have a reputation for talking about the weather all the time…), is to just try to accept that we won’t be getting any nice weather this year, and just dress for the the weather we DO have, which is basically winter. So it’s a good job we have all these winter collections starting to appear in the stores, huh? For the first time in my life, I’m actually starting to appreciate the fact that retail fashion is always one season ahead! (Don’t worry, I’ll change my tune in December, when all I can buy is bikinis…)
So, these Gucci boots! Well, they’re just wonderful, aren’t they? In an understated kind of way, of course, which I always think is a good thing when it comes to boots. With shoes, you can get away with something a little louder or more adventurous, but with boots there’s just so much of them that I like to keep it super-simple. I also like to keep it super-versatile, too, if possible. Most pairs of boots aren’t quite as expensive as these ones, obviously, but they do take up a big chunk of the budget, so it’s handy if they go with a lot of different colours, so you can get your money’s worth. These ones definitely fit the bill in that respect: the camel-coloured upper will be almost “nude” on some skin tones, and even if it isn’t, it’s still very neutral, and one of these shades that will compliment almost anything you choose to wear it with. A good job, too, considering that price tag!
