It’s testament to how much I love stripes that even although I DON’T tend to love shoes with buckles, the second I saw the striped insole on these ones, I wanted to take a closer look.
That closer look revealed more stripes on the over-sized buckle, and was all I needed to convince me that yup, I could probably make room for a pair of these on my shoe shelves. You know, if you FORCED ME.
Underneath that buckle, you see, there lurks exactly the kind of shoe I like, with a neutral upper, an open toe and low-cut sides. The buckle itself, meanwhile, is placed at exactly the right point of the foot to make it workable for me. Any lower and it would be a Mary Jane (Which always look childish on me, although I like them on other people), and any higher and it would be an ankle strap, which would be a little less attractive to me. As it is, however, it’ll help keep the shoe anchored firmly on the foot, while the printed buckle adds a touch of colour and interest.
These also come in black and blue, both with the same striped pattern as on these, and they’re £90 at Nordstrom.
Very cute. I have a similar pair which are sadly lacking the stripes.
