We’re almost halfway through August, and although I’m nowhere near ready to start thinking about the approaching autumn, the fashion world is way ahead of me. Here are three pairs of tartan shoes from the fall 2015 collections…
tartan shoes by Sophia Webster, £395
These tartan slingback sandals by Sophia Webster are by far my favourite of the current season’s collection of tartan shoes – in fact, they’re possibly my favourite pair of tartan shoes EVER. That’s partly because the tartan appears only on the bow, and is a very stylized, modern take on the traditional plaid print, but it’s also because of the bow itself. I mean, LOOK at it! I absolutely love these, and am actually cursing the day I set eyes on them, because I’d love to own a pair, but at £395, I’m just going to have to keep on dreaming.
Tartan shoes by Prada, $715
This is a slightly more “sensible” take on the tartan shoe – although I’m not really sure “sensible” is a word that can or should be used to describe a pair of 5″ heels, do you? These are, however, in a muted colour, and the classic shape will make them pretty easy to wear, too. It’s not often that I find a pair of shoes that I think would look better with tights than without them, but I think these might be those shoes – they’d look fantastic with opaque tights in black or dark green.
Tartan shoes by Manolo Blahnik, $695
If you’re more of a traditionalist when it comes to print and shape, these pointed courts by Manolo Blahnik use a classic, bright red tartan, which will provide the perfect finishing touch to an autumnal outfit or little black dress. These have a 4″ stiletto heel, and are $695 at Barneys.
What do you think of tartan shoes: yay or nay?
A definite yay. Love.
I love the Pradas, but alas they would have to be about 2 inches shorter and $600 cheaper for them to be in the realm of possibility.
