Zara laminated sandals with fruit detail
I would never have guessed these shoes came from Zara. Oh, it’s not that I don’t think Zara make awesome shoes, obviously: on the contrary, I’m a huge fan, and have probably bought more than my fair share of footwear from there over the years. Lately, though, the Zara aesthetic has been very minimal and trendy – whereas these look a bit like the leftover Christmas decorations you fogot to put away. I mean that as compliment, by the way: they may be the last thing I need right now, but as soon as I laid eyes on them, I immediately found myself looking for the price (£55.99, in case you’re wondering…), and wondering if they had my size in stock. The answer: yes, they do (or, at least they did, at the time of writing) – and they had quite a few other sizes in stock, too, so if your eyes lit up like mine did at the sight of them, here’s hoping you’ll be in luck.
As for me, I DIDN’T add these to my basket, but only because of my current, self-imposed shopping diet. One of my aims this year is to spend less on clothes and shoes, and to try my best to buy only those items I know I’ll wear, rather than the ones I just WANT to wear. That’s also why I made myself put back that tulle skirt I picked up in the Zara sale this year, and buy a much more sensible jersey dress instead. I mean, I know I did the right thing, but damn, I loved that skirt – and I love these shoes, too. What shoe magpie wouldn’t, I ask you? Quite apart from all of the sequins and studs, these also have a lovely, vintage-inspired feel to them, which I really like… and which would look really good with that tulle skirt, now I come to think of it…
