Zara burgundy platform boots, £149
So, I guess it’s time to start thinking about boots, huh? September is speeding by alarmingly quickly (I know we’re less than two weeks in, but given that I’m pretty sure it was July just a couple of days ago, it feels fast to me!), and unless I get REALLY lucky, there are probably only a few more days left before the peep toes and sandals will have to be retired for another year.
As sad as that is, however, I’m pleased to report that there’s no shortage of great boots waiting to take their place right now. I’ve already added a few pairs to my wish list, and one of those pairs is these burgundy platform knee boots from Zara. I’ve always been a fan of Zara’s boots in general (And this season their shoe collection is one of the best on the high street, too), but the colour of these ones makes them particularly worthy of attention. Burgundy is one of those quintessential winter colours: it’s rich, dark, and sumptuous, and it works brilliantly on boots because the red is just bold enough to be unusual, but close enough to a more traditional shoe-shade, like tan or chestnut, to still be very wearable.
These boots have a high leg with a block heel and wooden platform: all of the ingredients of the perfect smart/casual winter boot. Platforms are no longer the height of fashion at the moment, but this look is still very classic, and will look great over jeans, or with one of the full midi skirts that around this season for a bit of a 70s-inspired vibe. Boots like these tend to be something of an investment purchase for many people, and if you’re choosing something you plan to wear for a few years, I think it’s a good idea to avoid anything too trendy, which will date quickly. These fit the bill in that respect, and are also well priced given that they’re real leather, too.
I love them!
I have much love for these boots!
