Three Yellow Dresses I Love (But Probably Couldn’t Wear)

Last week I wore my favourite yellow dress on a sunny summer’s day, and it reminded me just how much I love this colour.

Yellow can be a tricky one to wear, though. Almost every time I post outfit photos featuring something yellow, I get comments from people saying they can’t wear it, it doesn’t suit them, or it’s just not their “cup of tea”. Which is fair enough, obviously: not all colours will work for all people, and as it’s such a bold shade, it’s not for the faint-hearted either. I, for instance, probably couldn’t pull off any of the yellow dresses in Zara’s current summer collection – but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy looking at them, so here are three yellow dresses I love… but probably couldn’t wear…

If this dress was green, white, or almost any other colour, it would be on its way to me right now. I love the shape, love the little bow at the neckine, and I ALSO love the bright yellow colour. Alas, this particular shade is just a bit too bright for me, so I’m going to leave it for those of you who could do justice to it!

Lace has been a huge trend this season, and although it’s not something I’ve ever been particularly partial to in the past, I have to admit, I’ve found myself jumping aboard the bandwagon, and adding a couple of pieces to my closet. Again, the colour of this particular dress is on the bright side, but I love the shape and the length – just perfect!

Mustard lace dress

If the first two dresses were just too bright for you, meanwhile, this mustard lace number might be more your speed. This has a similar shape and style to the dress above it, but the more muted colour will make it easier to wear – and it’ll also translate easily into autumn, too.

What do you think of yellow dresses? Would you wear any of these?
