Whistles stilettos, £125
I’ve admired these shoes a few times now, but have so far resisted featuring them here because I tend to think that a plain pair of pumps will be too boring for words. Literally, I mean. What is there to say, after all, about the kind of shoes that form the basis of many a shoe closet, but which consist simply of a heel, a block colour, a pointed toe and… that’s it.
Well, actually, I think there’s quite a lot to say about that kind of shoes. I’d also probably describe these as “perfect”, rather than plain. No, there’s no huge embellishments, and no fun print, but that’s the whole point, and sometimes a fabulous shape and a versatile colour is all you need.
I’ve shown three of the colours these come in here, but there are a few more at the Whistles website, including a bright yellow and a gold leather version. These three are my favourites, however: the coral is always great for spring, the navy is a classic, and as for the white, well, I’ve been really drawn to white stilettos recently (Those are words I never thought I’d type, trust me…) and I think they look fantastic with jeans, for a casual, but still pulled-together look.
I would like someone to send me the navy pair, please.
