These shoes, people. Seriously: THESE SHOES.
Actually, these shoes have presented me with a bit of a dilemma. The second they appeared on my screen, as I scrolled through the Net-a-Porter ‘new in’ section over my morning coffee, I was completely blown away by them. Because they have that WOW factor, don’t they? And that’s honestly something that’s lacking in the shoe world at the moment: I’ve said it before, but while there are lots of shoes out there that I like, there are very few that will elicit the “OMG, SHOE KRYPTONITE!” response these days: these ones did it, so hats off to them for that.
BUT.
(You knew there had to be a “but”, didn’t you?)#
As beautiful as these shoes are to look at – and they’re REALLY beautiful to look at – I had a sneaking suspicion that I might not like them quite so much on the foot. Luckily, Net-a-Porter are also able to help with that, so here’s what these shoes look like on:
As I suspected, I’m not quite as keen on them now: don’t get me wrong, they’re still amazing to look at, but the sheer amount of fabric on them, combined with the very bright colour, draws the eye right to the model’s feet in this photo, which appear over-sized, and become the focal point of her whole look. I’m obviously not opposed to the idea of amazing shoes being the focal point of an outfit, but I know from experience with similarly bright shoes that the “over-sized feet” look isn’t one I find easy to pull off, so these would fall into the “look, but don’t wear” category for me, much as I love them. Which is probably a good thing, given the price, actually.
What do you think of these shoes?
