Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 55: Marilyn Monroe Halloween Costume

What: Pewter peep toes from Guess (c/o Marshalls)
When: Saturday, October 30th, 2010
Where: Halloween costume party
With: White dress and blonde wig (both eBay)

Halloween is one of my favourite times of year, and I have to confess, I love it not just because there are always a couple of great parties to go to, but because those parties offer the best opportunity I get to dress up as much as I want. I mean, no one can tell you you’re “overdressed” when some of the people in the room are painted blue, can they?

Basically, then, I use Halloween as an excuse for all-out glamour, so, for the first of the two costume parties we were invited to this Halloween, I decided to go as the ultimate retro-glamour girl:

Um, I was trying to do that whole, “Whoops, subway grating blew up my dress!” pose. I ended up looking like I just really needed to use the bathroom. Whoops.

Terry, meanwhile, went for something a little scarier:

See, he WAS going to go as an Egyptian mummy, and bought this on eBay with the intention of wrapping lots of bandages around it to create the desired effect. But when it arrived, he decided it was actually much scarier without the bandages and I had to agree…

The shoes are obviously the least-important part of this outfit, but let the record show that they’re by Guess, and were a PR gift from Marshalls a couple of years ago. They start to really pinch my toes after a few hours’ wear, which made them totally unsuitable for a party, but they seemed the right choice for the outfit, so I decided to just suck it up. Don’t do this at home, kids!

Now I need to come up with a costume idea for NEXT week. So far I’ve been Audrey Hepburn, Lady Gaga and Isla Fisher in ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’: suggestions welcome!
