Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 41: Windy Wednesday

What: Topshop ‘Serano’ platforms (via eBay)
When: Wednesday, August 11, 2010
Where: Running errands
With: Stripe skirt (eBay); owl pendant and tank top (both Topshop); belt (same as yesterday); denim jacket (Forever 21); sunglasses (Gucci)

It’s been both wet and windy here today this week this year, but I’m bravely continuing in my mission to wear all of my open-toed shoes before winter sets in and I run out of time to “save them” under the terms of my Shoe Challenge. I wear the impractical shoes so you don’t have to, folks!

These shoes actually have a story attached to them: brace yourselves. I’d loved them when they first appeared on the Topshop website, but couldn’t justify the price at the time, so I’d resigned myself to the fact they would never be mine. Then, a few months later, Shoeperman and I were at Loch Lomond, of all places, and I happened to see a girl walk by wearing a pair of black skinny jeans… and these shoes. (Well, not these exact shoes, obviously. That would mean I’d chased after her and snatched them from her feet, and that would’ve been a little extreme, even for me.) They looked fantastic, so as soon as I got home, I did a quick eBay search, and lo and behold, there were the shoes, in my size, brand new and ending the very next day, so Shoeperman kindly stepped up and bought them for me. I think he was just relieved I hadn’t seen someone walk by wearing Louboutins, to be honest…

I counted, and there are seven pieces of flair on this jacket (two more on the back).

Despite what you may think, these are actually one of the most comfortable pairs of heels I own. I mean, I wouldn’t normally clamber around on rocks in them, but still: pretty comfy.

Um, comfortable enough to walk the dog in, for sure.

And just in case I didn’t manage to post enough photos of my hair here, there’ll be more photos up on my Facebook Page soon!

  • I wish I could wear beautiful heels all the time but my ankles can’t take it and I’m already five foot nine so I’d look ridiculously tall.

  • The combination of nude shoes with the red & white striped skirt is inspired! The wind adds a touch of drama and fun to the shots. Great post and pics. Apparently WordPress thinks you are a spammer hence why it munched your comments. I retrieved them. You were in there with someone trying to sell me Louboutin handbags, an astral projection specialist and the usual guff about designer trainers. Sneakers are not shoes.

    • lol! Ironically enough, I’ve just retrieved this comment from the spam folder too, plus one other from a regular reader who was clearly not spamming (And whose other comments all got through fine). WordPress seems to be really weird recently – I’ve been marked as spam on a few blogs recently!

      • The feature that you have showing comments with the commentators last blog post is genius by the way. I am having a lot of fun catching up with some new blogs.

  • I too am desperately hunting a pair of these shoes down, size 3 or 4 – none on ebay at the moment, but I will own them before my hols πŸ™‚

  • Beautiful shoes!
I’ve been reading your blog for a while (love it!) and decided to take the methodical approach and start from 2009. The result: 3 pairs of new shoes in 2 weeks πŸ™‚ (and I’m normally obsessed with buying dresses!), including some lovely Ash wedges from Spartoo, which I discovered thanks to you.
