Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 17: Hollywood

What: Red Zara peep toes
When: June, 2011
Where: Hollywood, California
With: Bettie Page ‘Captain’ dress

I’m back! And feeling pretty jetlagged, to be honest, so this is just a very quick shoe challenge post, with lots of photos and not many words: I think it’ll probably take me a few more days to feel awake enough for that!

I had an absolutely fantastic time in California, though, and managed to fit in lots of shoe challenges while I was over there, so I’m not quite as far behind as I was when I left, thank goodness! I have a few new pairs of shoes to show you too, although only one pair was actually bought on vacation: I managed to control myself pretty well as far as shoes were concerned, although let’s not even talk about dresses….

Speaking of shoes, however, these ones are the red Zara peep toes which I bought in the Canary Islands last winter, and which have had a lot of use this summer already. These shoes work with about 90% of my summer wardrobe, so seem to be rarely off my feet at the moment!

The dress, meanwhile, is by Bettie Page, and was purchased in San Francisco, on the first leg of our trip. I’d been lusting over this dress for over a year, but seeing it on the lovely Arlene in a recent Shoe Challenge roundup was the final straw for me: I knew it had to be mine!

Anyway, enough from me for now: I need to catch up on sleep, email and the huge pile of laundry I brought back with me! I’ll have lots more Shoe Challenges and shoes to show you next week, though, and as I said earlier, now that I’m home, you can feel free to start emailing me the links to your own challenges again. Hope everyone’s had a good few weeks and managed to save lots of shoes!

  • I’ve saved no shoes since you’ve been away. Isn’t that awful. What a precarious photo of you walking at the edge of the pool in those super high heels… I probably would’ve fallen in. I love the shoes, and the dress, and am really envious that you’ve been to such a wonderful place.

    Take care, xx

  • Amber, you look absolutely stunning!

And great to have you back 🙂
It’s incredible that you wrote 3 weeks of blogposts before you left on holiday, that must have been so much work! Don’t know how you do it, respect 🙂

    • I’m not sure either! It actually ended up being more like 6 weeks of posts, because I had so much on the week before we left, and next week too, so I was pretty exhausted by the end of it – definitely my least favourite thing about blogging for a living (although so far it’s pretty much the ONLY downside I’ve found, so I can’t really complain. And of course, the holidays are always worth it :))!

    • thanks, Tracey 🙂 I wish it was – my poor mum had to make some alterations to it to make it fit properly, but she *says* she doesn’t mind 🙂

  • You look amazing. I can totally see why people thought you were celebrity, you look like one)
And these red shoes have such a beautiful shape!

ps great to have you back))

  • You look lovely in this outfit! I hope you and Terry had a wonderful holiday 🙂 I’ve never bought anything from Bettie Page, but I really like their dresses. I’m glad to see that this dress looks so nice on you, as most of the models on their website are quite full-figured, and I wasn’t sure if the dresses would suit (or fit) more petite ladies. I think I’ll go and have a look at their site again right now 🙂

    • Thanks, Sara! A word of warning – the dresses are amazing, but they are cut for the fuller figured: I have one dress (the ‘Rita’) which is really stretchy and fits perfectly, but my other Bettie Page dresses have had to be altered: my poor mum had to fix this one up for me before it would work (luckily she brought her sewing kit with her!), and it could still be a better fit on top. They’re definitely a better fit than my Pin-Up Couture dresses, though – those have all needed quite a bit of alteration!
