Parrot print canvas wedges by Florence & Fred, £18
If you’re on a budget, I always think canvas wedges are a great way to inject a bit of fun and colour into your summer wardrobe. They’re usually fairly inexpensive, they’re comfortable, and work well with most casual outfits, and they tend to come in a wide range of different prints, so you can choose something a little bit more interesting than you’d go for if you were buying an “investment” shoe, say.
These Florence & Fred wedges have a bright blue canvas upper, dotted with a coral and orange parrot print design. It’s cute, quirky, and very summery, but at the same time, it’s not too gimmicky, which can be the downfall of some of the animal-themed prints we sometimes see on shoes. Parrot print aside, these are a classic canvas wedge, and the kind of thing I never get tired of: in fact, I could very easily get through an entire summer vacation in just one pair of shoes… as long as the shoes in question were canvas wedges, with a reasonably neutral upper. Does parrot print count as “neutral”? Well, that’s totally up to you, but I think these will actually prove fairly versatile, and at least for £18 you know you’re not going to make an expensive mistake!
I really like them. The parrot could just be some sort of pattern, if you don’t look too closely.
