Menbur ‘Padovano’ blue strappy sandals, £74.20
Menbur have become one of my favourite brands for dress shoes over the past couple of years, and while many of their shoes have a decidedly “bridal” feel to them, these platform sandals would work well for any semi-formal occasion – and with a bit of careful styling, could probably be worn as part of a less formal look, too.
These have a high platform sole to balance out the 14cm heel, and a black t-strap fastening to keep them on your feet. It’s the strappy upper – or rather, the colours used on the strappy upper – which really makes this look, though. Cobalt blue, soft turquoise and shimmery silver combine to create an almost ocean-inspired effect. I really like the way these three shades work together: they’re different enough to add contrast nicely enough with each other, but not SO different that they’d be tricky to style. These would look good with any of the the three shades used on the vamp, or with the black from the t-strap, but it’s the cobalt blue colour I decided to base this particular look around:
What to wear with Menbur ‘Padovano’ sandals:
♥ Preen ‘Novak’ dress ♥ Charles & Keith clutch bag ♥ Winter Mint turquoise square earrings ♥ Ashiana gold plated ring ♥ Bobbi Brown Limited Edition Sand and Surf eye palette
To lessen the impact of the head-to-toe blue, I’ve added some contrasting accessories in a similar, although not identical, shade to the turquoise on the vamp. The result is colourful without being too garish, but there is some bad news, too: these shoes are currently low in stock, so if you need them in your life, and they have them in your size, I wouldn’t wait too long before hitting that “add to basket” button!
I think the black strap was a mistake – I would have used cobalt. Otherwise they are a very nice pair of shoes.
