LK Bennett ‘Carmen’, £795
I think LK Bennett’s current collection has to be one of their best yet. They’ve always made beautiful, sophisticated looking shoes, but these ‘Carmen’ peep toes, like many of the other styles available at the moment, have a real “wow” factor, too.
Unfortunately, some of that “wow” factor comes from the price. These are £795, which is a price-point I tend to associate with higher-end brands (Not that LK Bennett is “cheap”, exactly: their shoes have always been on the expensive side, just not quite THIS expensive…) like Louboutin, say, or Prada. Still, most of that hefty price tag can be explained by the words “Swarovski crystals”: they’re beautiful, but they do tend to ramp up the price!
Regardless of how much they cost, however, these are really stunning shoes, with a true “fairytale” feel to them. This is one instance where a sheer, or semi-sheer upper works really well, giving the shoe a delicacy which I don’t normally associate with platforms. The pale pink shade shown above would make lovely bridal shoes, but these also come in black, if you’re looking a slightly bolder effect.
They’re spectacular, but I don’t know know if I actually love them.
