Ganni Audrey Two Tone Black and Pink Court Shoes, £170

I’m a big fan of a cap-toe pump, but an even bigger fan of the combination of black and pink, so a shoe which inclues both of those elements is all kinds of awesome, as far as I’m concerned.

Although I never used to be much of a pink girl, it’s really grown on me over the past few years: and this year, especially, when the fashion world has really been embracing those pastel hues. As much as I love to look at pink, however, it’s a colour I can only wear in small doses, which makes these shoes even more attractive to me. The bubblegum mid-section is balanced out and toned down by the black toe-cap and heel, while the business-like shape helps moderate the inherent “girliness” of the colour.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always think of cap-toed styles as very “grown up”, serious-looking shoes (Yes, even with the injection of hot pink!), which is why these ones inspired me to create an outfit suitable for the office: or SOME offices, anyway…

I’m very proud of myself for managing to resist adding a little something pink to this outfit: I think the shoes bring enough pink to the party on their own (especially for an outfit designed to worn in a formal, or semi-formal setting), but pairing them with pink is another obvious option here. If you wanted to go for something a little more fun, and perhaps a little less severe, a pink pencil skirt or dress would give you the same basic style, but with a totally different feel.
