Fuchsia bow platform sandals, £29.99
I don’t know if it’s just me, or if it;s just the time of year (I know I say this a lot, but there’s only so much enthusiasm I can muster for winter footwear collections…), but New Look just hasn’t been inspiring me lately the way it used to. I’ve visited my local branch a few times over the winter, but have left empty-handed each time, having seen lots of shoes that were nice, but not many that were nice enough to make me want to buy them. These fuchsia bow sandals don’t make me want to buy them either, I must admit, but at least they’re a step in the right direction, and harken back to the days when New Look used to be crammed full of affordable footwear that made me want to buy it ALL.
The gold platform sole on these shoes gives them a bit of a Brian Atwood/Charlotte Olympia vibe, although the overall effect is a more trendy than edgy/quirky, which is what the aforementioned designers tend to go for. The bright fuchsia upper, meanwhile, is nice and cheerful, and good way to add some colour to an evening outfit, but if you’d rather keep it classic, these also come in black.
I totally agree. Since I’m taking courses in a city that actually has a New Look store, I’ve gone in multiple times and left empty handed every single time. It used to be different…
They’re a bit… meh.
