Pretty Dress Company ‘Cara’ swing dress, £145
If ever a brand was well-named, The Pretty Dress Company would be that brand. Because they sell… well, pretty dresses, basically. You can’t get much clearer than that, can you?
I have quite a few of their dresses on my wish list at the moment, but the ‘Cara’ swing dress shown above is my current favourite. I love cherry print (which I’d naturally want to wear with my Vivienne Westwood/Melissa ‘Cherry’ shoes. Oh, come on, as if I’d miss the opportunity for that level of matching!), and I really like the shape of this dress, which is a classic swing dress, with a square cut neckline, and a folded detail on the bodice, to make it a little more interesting. Add a nipped-in waist and a skirt made for twirling in, and you can probably see why I like it so much!
Also on my Pretty Dress wish list is this one:
‘Mistress’ black and white dogtooth swing dress, £125
Because it’s always so cold here, dresses with sleeves are particularly attractive to me – it’s such a nice change to be able to wear them without having to pile cardigans or other layers over the top, just so I don’t freeze. I’m also a fan of houndstooth prints, and can see this one working well in the winter, with tall leather boots and long gloves.
‘Hepburn’ camel swing dress, £125
I pinned a photo of Dita Von Teese in this dress a while ago, and it’s been on my list ever since. I don’t expect to look like Dita in it, of course, but it’s a great dress – and it also comes in black and bright blue, too, if you’re worried about the camel colour washing you out!
Nice to find out another ‘new’ company from you. The Hepburn camel dress is beautiful but the belt is worn ‘high-waisted’?
