Have you ever found yourself falling for a look that’s the complete opposite of what you’d normally wear?
That’s what’s happened with me and sneakers.
Now, I’m very, very late to the “sneakers-as-fashion-statement” look, I know. It’s been over a year since sports shoes started popping up on fashion blogs and in magazines, and when it first started happening, I didn’t pay too much attention to the trend. The fact is, I’m a heels girl: always have been, (probably) always will be. For me, sneakers are just for the gym – I’ll wear them to go running, or for other, purely-practical purposes, but they’re the very last shoes I’d reach for when styling an outfit, or simply deciding what to wear in the morning.
Lately, however, I have to admit, the look has really started to grow on me: to the point where all of a sudden, I’m finding myself craving a pair of black and white Nikes, or perhaps a nice pair of New Balance: which, of course, I’d wear with a long, casual coat, a pair of black leggings and a wooly hat.
Images like the ones on this page, of course, have a lot to do with this sudden interest in the sports luxe look. These outfits are the complete opposite of my own style, but I love them all the style, and really admire the air of effortless cool these women exude. These looks are all very minimal, very sleek, and with an emphasis on comfort – which can only be a good thing!
I might never attempt this kind of look myself, but I have to say, I’m really enjoying the trend: which just goes to show – you should never say “never”!*
* Unless you’re talking about Crocs, obviously: then it’s totally fine to say “never”…
I love these looks, for a casual day of errands (or if you literally have to run around the city a bit between uni, work and having a bit of fun) I think they’re perfect. I agree with you on the Crocs (but what about if you suddenly develop a passion for gardening? Come to think of it, what other shoes are a good option for gardening? Clogs?)
Beautiful shots. I think the shoes match the rest very well.
