I’M A LITTLE BIT ADDICTED TO STRIPES – AND IF YOU’VE BEEN READING THIS BLOG FOR A WHILE NOW, YOU’RE PROBABLY READING THIS AND THINKING, “YEAH, YEAH – TELL US SOMETHING WE DON’T KNOW, SHOEPERWOMAN!”
Of all of the stripe tops I own, though (and trust me, there are a LOT of them), there’s one brand that stands out, and one brand I keep coming back to. That brand is Petit Bateau, and they’re seriously the BEST brand for Breton tops – by a mile. I own each of the styles shown in this image, and I’ll probably keep on buying more for as long as they keep making them – yes, even although even I know I don’t actually NEED any more stripe tops.
As well as the fact that they come in a variety of nautically-themed colours, as all good Bretons should, these tops are also excellent quality: thick cotton that wears and washes well, and the kind of tops I know I’ll own for years – in fact, some of these I HAVE owned for years: and one of them (the thicker knit classic Breton at the top right of the image) I love so much that I actually ended up getting two of them. (This turned out to be a smart move on my part, when I somehow managed to spill ketchup down the first one: it did come out, thankfully, but at least I knew I had a second sweater in reserve, just in case it didn’t!)
Petit Bateau don’t only make tops, of course: there’s also a range of other items, including dresses and outerwear, all with a distinctly nautical feel. These are true wardrobe classics, which will never go out of style – and which I’ll probably never stop wanting to buy more of!
