My Autumn Wardrobe Essentials

Autumn Wardrobe Essentials

Autumn wardrobe essentials: all available at Boden

Anyone ready to start thinking about autumn yet?

I’m going to cross my fingers and hope that at least a few of you said “no” to that, because God knows, we’re still waiting for summer to arrive in some parts of the UK, so it pretty much feels like we live in a permanent autumn: and trust me when I tell you that no matter HOW much you think you love a particular season, when it’s the only one you ever get, you start longing for a change!

I’m definitely not ready to start thinking about autumn, then, but think about it I must, because as any shopaholic knows, it’s around about now that the autumn/winter styles start to filter into the stores, and although a lot of those styles will be around for a long while yet (or will be replaced by others), when it comes to things like coats, say, sometimes you have to get in early, or risk missing out altogether.

As I mentioned earlier this week, I actually don’t have a whole lot on my autumn shopping list this year, but I thought it might be fun to take a look at some of my autumn wardrobe essentials anyway (I’m just going to pretend you haven’t already guessed what they’re going to be!): and, of course, I’d love to hear about yours, too!  So here you go:

Autumn wardrobe essentials: a checklist of items to have in your closet for autumn

Trench coat

Biker jacket

Other short jacket (I wear this one and this one fairly often)

Thin-knit sweaters

Fitted cardigans

Long drape cardigans

Blue jeans

Black jeans

Cigarette pants

Pencil skirt

Full Skirt

Jersey midi dresses

Tea dresses

Ankle boots

Pointed pumps – flat and heeled

This is a fairly short list, but even although I’ve tried to stick to (mostly) autumn-specific items, the nature of the UK weather means that the majority of these could be worn all year round here, without much difficulty. As is usually the case in the UK, I find that outerwear is the most important component of the autumn wardrobe: because we never know quite what we’re going to get, weather-wise, layers are all-important!

What about you? What are your autumn wardrobe essentials?
