Alexander McQueen red bow back ankle boots

Alexander McQueen bow-back ankle boots, $1,195

 I’m all for interesting boots – especially ones involving extravagant bows – but I’ve a feeling these Alexander McQueen ones wouldn’t be the most practical winterwear ever: not just because of the price (who wants to tramp through the rain in a pair of $1,000 boots?) but because I really HATE to think how bedraggled that bow would look after a few hours’ exposure to the UK weather!

Still, “practical” isn’t a word often associated with Alexander McQueen footwear, and these are definitely stunning: I really love the bright red upper, although if you’d prefer something a little more sombre (if a boot with a giant bow on the heel can ever be called “sombre”, that is) they’re also available in black.
