ALDO purple suede platform shoes, £80
Anyone out there love platforms? Anyone love purple? How about purple platforms ? Anyone?
If you answered yes to any of those questions – but particularly to the last one, obviously – ALDO’s ‘Passarello” platforms just might be of interest to you. The shape of these is one that was hugely popular a few years ago: it’s less so now, but platforms do still have their place in the shoe world, and those who love them have never given them up. These ones are most notable for the colour, rather than the shape. This is what I think of as “Dairy Milk‘ purple, and there’s something incredibly sumptuous, and a little bit decadent about it. Possibly because it never fails to make me think of chocolate. Hmmm.
If you DON’T love purple, but you DO love platforms, meanwhile, these are also available in a beautiful bright red, black suede, and black leather. These have a 5″ heel, with a platform height of around 1″, so although they’ll definitely make you feel taller, they shouldn’t be any more difficult to walk in than a more manageable 4″ heel. Or that’s the theory, anyway. As for what to wear with them, I think a colour like this deserves to be the star of the show, so I’ve gone for a palette of mutes greys and soft blues for the brilliant purple to stand out against:
JACKET // SKIRT // BAG // WATCH // NAIL POLISH // RING
(OK, the jacket is ONE of the stars of this show, too: what I wouldn’t give for a Vivienne Westwood jacket!)
I love them. Purple is my favourite colour!
